Pastor
Philip Vestal Rev. Philip Vestal was born in Ft.
Worth, TX and in 1986 was called to full-time ministry. In 1992, after
being ordained for vocational Christian ministry and graduating from Baylor
University with a B.A. in Religion, Philip became the founder and president
of Philip Vestal Ministries, Inc. – a national youth outreach ministry.
After five years of itinerate ministry, Philip moved to Charlotte, NC where
he served as a two-year missionary for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship,
coordinating the Adopt-A-People initiative. During that time, Philip
helped network churches with unreached people groups around the world.
On August 1, 1999 Philip answered God’s clear call to become the pastor of
Harlem Baptist Church. Philip and his wife, Melissa, have three
children – Brice, Hallie and Paul. Music Minister
Edee Sweatman Edee has served as Minister of Music
at Harlem Baptist for almost 33 years. Born and raised in Harlem, she is a
graduate of Harlem High School and Georgia College and State University. She
is also a private piano instructor and is a member of several professional
music organizations. In November, Edee is currently the President of the
Georgia Music Teachers Association serving throughout the state of Georgia.
Even though a product of this community, the call to serve in this church has
remained strong and clear throughout the years, and it has been a blessing
and honor to minister with this staff and church family. Edee is married to Ken Sweatman, and
they have two children: Heather, who is married and lives in Duluth, and
Kevin, a resident of Cincinnati. me ministry. In

Minister
Wade Sosebee Wade was born in LaFayette, GA and
began losing his hair after graduating high school. He accepted the call to
ministry when he was eighteen and received his degree from New Orleans
Baptist Theological Seminary in Christian Ministry. He accepted the call to
Harlem Baptist in January 2006. He and his wife Kelly have one daughter, Anna
Claire and Paul Administrative
Christa Hyman Assistant Christa Hyman is wife to Marc Hyman
and together they have 7 children and 11 grandchildren. Christa was an
insurance agent for 25 years before receiving God’s call to youth ministry.
She served as Minister to Youth for 8 years. She has taught Sunday
School for all ages, lead Bible studies, lead drama ministries, and lead
youth and children’s choirs. She no longer serves as a Youth Minister by
vocation. She has served since August 1, 2004 as the Administrative Assistant at HBC in the ministry of
communication. She enjoys public speaking and ministering to women and
children. |
